In the coming year, the music committee has planned an exciting series that will be held on Sundays from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m., right next door at Central Congregational Church. Music presentations will be given by performers of diverse cultural backgrounds. The schedule is as follows:
Mixed Magic Exult Gospel Choir - October 8th
Magnolia Cajun Band- November 5th
VoX, Voices of Christmas - December 10th
Irish Dancing with Kevin Doyle - March 4th
John Miranda Band, Cape Verde - April 8th
Crocodile River, music of West Africa - May 6th
The Hamilton House Sunday Afternoon Music Series is a cross-cultural arts program which will offer through music, a better understanding of culturally diverse populations, reflecting a history of richness and diversity to our local community. Each event will highlight a different ethnic population in Rhode Island. Each music event will have a food component as well. We know from experience hat sharing a meal together breaks down barriers and works as a catalyst for learning about one another. The tasting will pair with the art form.

GARDEN OF FINZI CONTINIS
This film was nominated by the Academy for best Italian foreign film in 1971. It tells of the disintergration of the Jewish community in one smallish Italian town. Director De Sica ( Bicycle Thief) merges his symbols with his story so that they evoke the meaning of time. The walled garden of Finzi Continis is De Sica’s symbol of a waiting period and an interesting visual strategy. This film creates a feeling of nostalgia for a lost time and place.
