Thoroughly Modern Edith - A seminar that explores contrasts in Wharton's life and fictional works.

Edith Wharton is well known as the author of novels of manners that put you smack in the middle of New York society. However, she is also the woman who produced Ethan Frome and Summer - works that fall far outside the genteel society. We will read Roman Fever and Other Stories, a collection that touches on the many sides of Edith Wharton. We will look at the contrasts in her life, both here and when she became an American living in Paris in the early 20th century.Book information is available in the office.

Reflexology

Reflexology can be incorporated into an overall healthy lifestyle. Nobel Peace Prize winner, Sir Charles Sherrington, proved that the whole nervous system and body adjusts to a stimulus when it is applied to any part of the body. Through the years, doctors have proved that reflexology has significant benefits for lymphatic drainage, circulation, breaking down calcification between nerve pathways, muscle relaxation, and stress.
Judith Mederios, a certified reflexologist, will give a presentation of this technique and its benefits. She will also give a demonstration.

Monday Film Festival
